BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY - Review

Bridget Jones is back, and so is her hilariously chaotic inner monologue in Mad About the Boy—only this time, things have changed. A lot. She’s older, she’s a mom, and (brace yourself) Mark Darcy is dead. Yep, Helen Fielding really did that to us.
So, where does that leave our favorite wine-loving, calorie-counting, hopelessly romantic disaster? Back in the dating world at 51 years old—navigating texting rules, Twitter, and a way-too-hot younger man named Roxster (yes, that’s his name). It is still classic Bridget—cringe-worthy moments, overthinking, bad decisions, and the kind of brutally honest self-reflection that makes her feel like a friend you’re both rooting for and shaking your head at.

There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but also some deeply emotional ones, especially when she reflects on losing Mark. Her struggles with single motherhood, grief, and aging feel real and relatable, even if she’s still a bit of a mess (wouldn’t have it any other way).
Is it as perfect as Bridget Jones’s Diary? No. But does it still have heart, humor, and a ridiculous amount of charm? Absolutely. If you love Bridget, you’ll enjoy seeing her stumble her way through yet another chapter of life. Just maybe have some tissues (and wine) on standby.
