Confidence Man’s 3AM (LA LA LA) is an unapologetically fun, eclectic, and euphoric dive into the dance music zeitgeist, solidifying the Australian duo’s reputation as one of the most entertaining acts in the electronic pop scene. This third album pulls from 90s and 2000s club culture, combining house, trance, techno, and UK garage into a whirlwind of infectious beats and flamboyant energy.

From the opener “WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU’LL FIND?”—a soaring Euro-trance anthem—to the gritty, industrial stomp of “SICKO,” the album constantly surprises. Tracks like “SO WHAT” and “I CAN’T LOSE YOU” are pure escapist anthems, brimming with playful lyrics and pulsating rhythms that scream festival main stage. The duo doesn’t shy away from their influences, paying homage to artists like Depeche Mode, Calvin Harris, and Craig David while injecting their signature cheeky, unfiltered charisma into every beat.

One of the album’s standout elements is the sheer theatricality Janet Planet and Sugar Bones bring to their performances. Their synergy and larger-than-life personas shine, whether it’s Janet’s sultry vocals sliding effortlessly into new genres or Sugar’s gritty, tongue-in-cheek lyricism. Tracks like “REAL MOVE TOUCH,” featuring reggae artist Sweetie Irie, and the trippy, garage-infused “SO TRU” highlight their ability to experiment without losing the party vibe.

What sets 3AM (LA LA LA) apart is its balance of chaos and precision. The production feels polished yet untamed, capturing the essence of a messy, glitter-fueled night out. Even the closer and title track offers a breathy, atmospheric cool-down, reminiscent of the reflective moments at the end of a rave.

While the album might lack lyrical depth, it doesn’t need it. Confidence Man delivers an immersive experience, where the goal is pure joy and connection on the dancefloor. This record is more than just music; it’s an invitation to lose yourself in a neon-lit world of rhythm and revelry.
