A raucous, soul-stirring anthem of Irish emigration and the longing for home, ‘Take Me Home’ is the latest release from the revered Robin James Hurt, landing on March 14th, 2025—just in time to become a St. Patrick’s Week staple.

Few artists capture the fire and heart of Irish and Scottish folk music quite like Robin James Hurt. Born in Belfast, raised in Scotland, and now calling Wexford home, his journey as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter has been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the years, Robin has shared the stage with legends like Ronnie Drew, Sinéad O’Connor, Finbar Furey, Camille O’Sullivan, and Linda Coogan Byrne, earning a reputation for his raw energy, breathtaking musicianship, and masterful storytelling.

With ‘Take Me Home,’ Robin delivers a rousing folk-rock anthem that resonates with the Irish diaspora—those who have left their homeland but feel its pull with every passing year. The track balances nostalgia with unshakable pride, weaving a tale of yearning, resilience, and the deep-rooted connection to one’s origins.

Driven by searing instrumentation, impassioned vocals, and an electrifying energy, ‘Take Me Home’ is folk music with a fiery, modern edge. The track fuses the rich traditions of The Chieftains with the raw, lo-fi intensity of Guided By Voices, resulting in a unique sound Robin calls #lofolk—a blend of authentic folk storytelling and unpolished, visceral production.

This is a song that doesn’t just tell a story—it demands to be sung, shared, and celebrated, making it the perfect addition to St. Patrick’s Week celebrations worldwide.

‘Take Me Home’ marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Robin James Hurt. The single is the first taste of his upcoming highly anticipated album, A Song, A Story Told, a project born from his songwriting partnership with acclaimed Dublin singer-songwriter Tony Floyd Kenna.

As Robin recalls:

"The first co-write by Tony and Robin James, which led to a whole album of songs I never would have conceived without Tony's amazing words. It was written in the winter 2020, as an escape from a strange, locked down world. Then later recorded in winter 2024 at The Flux Capacitor, Kilmichael, Co Wexford."

With Tony Floyd Kenna’s evocative lyrics and Robin’s instinctive, impassioned musicality, A Song, A Story Told promises to be a career-defining album.

Robin performs vocals, guitars, bass and mandolin on the track—with Ian McTigue on Drums and Gosia Gasior on the fiddle and backing vocals. It was recorded on a vintage Tascam eight-track cassette recorder for a raw, organic sound.

Robin’s performances are fiercely passionate, brimming with energy, grit, and tenderness. He’s playing at Toss Byrne’s, Inch, Gorey, Co. Wexford on St. Patrick’s day. If you’re a longtime fan or discovering Robin James Hurt for the first time, this intimate gig is not to be missed.

So whether you’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Week at home or abroad, let ‘Take Me Home’ be the soundtrack to your journey, wherever you may be.
