“All the Time” - Our Bones

With “All the Time,” Hudson Valley alt-rockers Our Bones deliver a song that’s both a howl and a heartbeat — a cathartic, tightly wound anthem about being human when everything feels like it’s falling apart. Equal parts existential reckoning and hook-heavy release, the track captures that familiar ache of staring at the chaos around you and realizing that, despite it all, you’re still here — still feeling, still trying, still alive.

From the first few seconds, “All the Time” radiates urgency. The guitars come in hot — crisp, jagged, and melodic — somewhere between the emotional grit of Manchester Orchestra and the widescreen alt-rock shimmer of Young the Giant. There’s a deep pulse underneath it all, anchored by a bassline that feels like a racing heartbeat, while the vocals cut through the mix with both vulnerability and defiance. It’s the kind of song that builds like a storm — measured at first, then spilling over with emotion until you’re swept up in it completely.

Written during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, “All the Time” was born out of confusion, grief, and that weird mix of stillness and noise that defined those years. But its resonance stretches far beyond that context — this is a song about now. About watching the world fracture under the weight of war, inequality, and apathy, and trying to find a thread of peace amid it all. “It could apply to any crisis,” the band explains — and they’re right. Its lyrics speak to a shared human exhaustion, but also to a stubborn kind of hope that refuses to die.

The recording process itself mirrors that same spirit of searching and surrender. Instead of the usual method — laying down drums first — Our Bones flipped the process entirely. The percussion came last, tracked on a completely different kit after realizing the original take just didn’t feel right. That decision, as unorthodox as it sounds, gave “All the Time” its edge. The drums aren’t mechanical — they breathe, they wobble, they move. Combined with the track’s subtle sound effects, distorted vocals, and raw mix, the result is a track that feels alive, almost as if it’s unfolding in real time.

At the helm of this sonic architecture is Benjamin Durland, who wrote, recorded, and produced the song at his own Studio at Old Ridge in Warwick, NY — a hub for the Orange County music scene. He’s joined by longtime collaborator Joshua Daniel Angehr, who co-produced the track and helped shape its emotional arc.

Musically, “All the Time” sits in that perfect middle ground between alt-rock intensity and pop-punk catharsis — tight enough to feel radio-ready, but loose enough to sting with authenticity. There’s a sense of community in chaos running through every bar — a reminder that even when we’re lost, we’re lost together.

As the final single before their upcoming full-length album, “All the Time” sets the tone for what’s to come: a sound that’s as heavy as it is heartfelt, born from the world’s fractures but held together by melody, empathy, and sweat.

In a way, the title says it all. “All the Time” isn’t just about the weight we carry — it’s about the endurance of being human, all the time.
