With their latest single, “RAGE IS A RITUAL,” Mimi Satanistá claws through the static, spits into the void, and dares anyone listening to feel something. This is dark wave/alt-pop at its most feral, a brutal, beautiful transmission.

Born from a very real place—Mimi’s own diagnosis with psychosis in 2022—this track isn’t just a song. It’s a survival spell, a primal scream, and a call to arms for anyone who's ever felt alien, shattered, or silenced.

The track thrashes with distorted bass, glitchy production, and seething vocals that feel less like singing and more like conjuring. There’s rage, yes, but also clarity—a sense that this chaos is intentional, channeled like electricity through cracked wires.

If you’re into artists like Zheani, The Buttress, ZAND, or the darker corners of the hyperpop/experimental rap/industrial universe, you’re going to feel right at home.

But this isn't just shock-for-shock’s sake. Mimi knows exactly what they’re doing—this is tactical emotional warfare, staged through production and poetry.

Mimi calls themselves a “glitch-poet,” and that couldn’t be more accurate. There’s poetry in the chaos here—lines that crackle with trauma, defiance, and weird beauty. The rage isn’t directionless; it’s sacred. It’s ritual. It’s a process of exorcism—not to destroy, but to survive.

And this single is just the centerpiece of something much bigger: Mimi’s new EP, TRANSMISSION_FROM_THE_VOID, dropped on May 10, 2025. The entire project is an act of resistance: against silence, against ableism, against the idea that art has to be “pretty” to be valid.

Mimi doesn’t just make music. They build broadcasts. Worlds. Warnings. Invitations. “RAGE IS A RITUAL” is the signal flare.

Mimi isn’t just sonic—they’re visual and conceptual, too. The EP and its singles are woven into the fabric of The Bunny Cult Collective, a multi-sensory experience blending digital art, performance, glitchcore aesthetics, and radical vulnerability. Think of it like a creative coven.

Mimi Satanistá isn’t here to conform. They’re here to connect. And if you’ve ever felt like your brain is a haunted house or that your rage could light a city, this one’s for you.

We spoke to Mimi about their journey so far.

Do you have an interesting moment or story from your early life that has had a significant impact on your journey into music?

Mimi: Definitely. My dad is a musician. He used to sing and play guitar to me, my siblings and cousins at family parties when we were little. He’d take us to gigs and we’d watch as he performed on stage. It was mesmerising.

Are there any artists that were influential to your musical journey? How have they inspired your sound as an artist?

Mimi: Oh, there were loads! But to mention a few, Zheani was and has always been a big inspiration to me. And ZAND. And The Buttress. I could go on... BANSHEE??  They’re all powerful female and non-binary artists and they inspire me to be fearlessly me! To feel the fear and do it anyway!

How would you describe your sound to new listeners? What do you think sets you apart?

Mimi: Haha, I genuinely don’t know how to answer this one. My music is subjective, often outspoken and genre-defying. My new stuff is the work im most proud of. Like I felt most like me when I was creating RAGE IS A RITUAL but my old stuff still goes hard, they’re just a different era in my music journey.

What’s your creative process? Where do you normally start when it comes to writing and recording? Do the lyrics come first?

Mimi: It depends, sometimes I start with the lyrics and sometimes I’ll start playing with midi and see what inspiration hits. When the inspiration hits me, sometimes I stay awake for days just creating music haha

Have you had any challenges or adversities in your life that you feel have shaped you as an artist?

Mimi: I had a psychotic break back in 2022… and because of this, I began spinning my trauma and pain into lyrical art and music. I create with the intention of creating connection and finding my audience; my family.

Are there any moments or achievements from your career so far that you’re most proud of?

Mimi: OOOf hahaha I don’t know if it’s a good moment or achievement but I did write, record and produce RAGE IS A RITUAL over the space of like 4 days running on caffeine and no sleep! HAHA

Which do you prefer, the creative process or live performance? Or do you enjoy both equally?

Mimi: I actually have never performed live anywhere. I’m still stinging to myself in my bedroom at this point in my career honestly and I cannot wait to perform live.

As for the creative process it makes up my whole life. I thought psychosis took creativity from me when I stopped painting like I did but really I just started creating differently.

Do you, as an artist, require fans to fully understand your message in each song, or do you encourage subjective interpretation from every listener?

Mimi: People might interpret my songs completely differently from how I thought they would, and yet that is such a beautiful thing. I cannot wait to hear how differently my music moves people.

Does the political landscape have an impact on your music, or do you keep your personal opinions separate from your work as an artist?

Mimi: Ahhh…. This question. I must always speak my mind. Look at FTG, for example, I cannot stand there in silence when something is hurting people.

What are your future plans? Any new songs/projects on the horizon?

Mimi: Honestly, this is just the beginning… I have so much more in me!
I’d love to perform live, I have so many visions for live performance, so many plans.
