If you’ve ever had your heart stomped on, buried it under a pile of distractions, and thought you were over it — then Gary Mictian’s new single “All I Ever Wanted” is going to hit hard.

Released on June 13, 2025, this track marks the beginning of a new era for the London-based hyperpop/electronic artist and producer, and it’s both an emotional gut punch and an electro-pop daydream. It’s the first in a series of singles we can expect from Gary this year, and if this is the opening statement, we’re in for one hell of a ride.

Musically, “All I Ever Wanted” is deceptively bright. It’s got crisp, crunchy bass lines, skittering beats, and glittery, warped vocal effects that make his voice sound like it’s coming from both a distant galaxy and your most vulnerable inner thoughts. It’s hyperpop with heart — less sugar rush, more emotional slow-burn, even as the BPM keeps your feet moving.

The production is slick but not sterile. You can hear the care in every sonic detail, from the layered synths that ripple and stretch like neon fabric, to the subtle vocal glitches that turn raw emotion into something strangely beautiful. There’s a tension between the track’s forward momentum and the way the lyrics look backward, stuck in a loop of what-could-have-been.

Lyrically, Gary dives deep into the all-too-relatable experience of not being able to fully shake someone from your system. He sings about wishing he’d never met them at all — not out of hate, but out of heartbreak. Because forgetting them would be so much easier than randomly spiraling into emotional paralysis over a memory you didn’t even mean to remember. It’s personal, it’s poetic, and it hurts in the best way.

What’s refreshing is how Gary doesn’t sugarcoat any of it. There’s no “I’m better off without you” posturing here. It’s just raw regret and vulnerability set to a beat that belongs in a sci-fi club scene. The vulnerability is real, but never melodramatic.

Coming off the back of his last EP Nosedive — which gave us streaming hits like I Can’t Do This Anymore and Love You Less — All I Ever Wanted feels like the natural next step. It leans even more into that blend of electronic euphoria and emotional collapse. Think Charli XCX’s heartbreak mixed with The Weeknd’s cinematic production, sprinkled with a touch of Charlie Puth if he went rogue in a synth lab.

Gary Mictian isn’t just making music — he’s building a whole mood, a whole universe. With influences ranging from dystopian sci-fi to late-night pop confessions, he’s crafted a sound that’s unmistakably his. And with more singles on the way, it’s clear that All I Ever Wanted is just the first transmission from this new world he’s creating.

So plug in your headphones, press play, and let yourself feel it. Whether you’re over someone or not, this song gets it — and it might just get you, too.
