If you’re looking for a bite of something wild, unrelenting, and unapologetically out there, Rosetta West have got you covered. Their latest track, Snake 25, isn’t just a song—it’s an experience. Clocking in at a hefty six minutes, it slowly coils around you with a brooding, atmospheric intro before striking hard with dense, aggressive hard rock. This one’s got wailing vocals, a wall of ferocious guitar riffs, and drums that don’t just hit—they pummel.
Rosetta West aren’t your average blues rock band. Hailing from Illinois, they’ve spent years carving out a mystical, genre-blurring sound that pulls from psychedelia, world folk, and heavy blues, all while weaving in esoteric, Gnostic themes that give their lyrics a sense of deep, personal storytelling. Snake 25 is no exception—it feels like a cryptic sermon wrapped in a sonic whirlwind.
Leading the charge is Joseph Demagore, the band’s main songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist, alongside Jason X on bass and keys. Jason isn’t just playing—he’s also been co-producing and engineering the band’s sound since their 2024 album Labyrinth, which means every eerie, hypnotic layer of Snake 25 is meticulously crafted. Throw in drummer Nathan Q. Scratch, who remains mysteriously camera-shy, and you’ve got a band that thrives on unpredictability and raw energy.

Rosetta West have never played by the industry’s rules. With the exception of a single release with Alive Records, they’ve stayed fiercely independent—releasing music on their own terms, building a global underground following, and dropping some of the most intriguing rock music you’ll find off the beaten path. Their catalogue is a goldmine of rare treasures, and if Snake 25 is your first taste, consider it the gateway drug.
Just be warned: once you step into Rosetta West’s world, you might not want to leave.
