When music meets activism, something truly powerful happens. Enter Ooberfuse, the British-Filipino duo known for using their music to shine a light on social issues. This time, they’ve joined forces with the PREDA Foundation and its founder, Nobel Peace Prize nominee Father Shay Cullen, to create “We Will Overcome”—a song that gives a voice to exploited, trafficked, and abused children.
Releasing March 24, 2025, to mark Right to Truth Day, this track isn’t just music—it’s a movement. It brings together Ooberfuse and the brave girls from PREDA Home for Girls, survivors who have endured unimaginable horrors yet sing with unwavering strength: "We will overcome by speaking truth to power."
With the reopening of US military bases in the Philippines, history threatens to repeat itself—just like in past decades when US sailors fuelled the demand for sex trafficking. With the cutting of USAID funding, the situation has only gotten worse.

Father Shay Cullen, who has spent over 50 years rescuing and rehabilitating vulnerable children, knows firsthand how dire this is. “The trade war with China and the cutting of USAID is the perfect storm - we need to take urgent action to continue our vital work of rescuing, protecting, healing and empowering the vulnerable and defenceless.”
Ooberfuse’s Cherrie Anderson grew up in the Philippines and knows that silence is often the biggest barrier to justice. “Like an impenetrable curtain that blocks out the sun’s rays, this silence-culture forbids a child from protesting and speaking up against betrayals that lead to violations. Music is a powerful means to end the silence and to allow the light into this darkness.”
That’s exactly what “We Will Overcome” does. Hal St John recalls the moment he first heard the girls at PREDA singing: “My heart was quite literally bursting with joy when we first heard the children singing at the top of their lungs “we will overcome by speaking truth to power.”
