Eddie Cohn is back, and he’s going deep this time. His new track “Wheels Stop” is a bold anthem about breaking free from negativity, embracing growth, and cutting ties with anything (or anyone) that’s holding you back. It’s part of a six-song EP, and this track marks a major shift for Cohn—both musically and emotionally. He’s pushing his sound into new, raw, and vulnerable territory.
Cohn wears his influences on his sleeve—grunge, ‘80s rock, and pop all collide in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh. If you love the brooding depth of Soundgarden, the harmonies of Alice in Chains, and the atmospheric guitar work of U2’s The Edge, you’re going to feel right at home here. There’s a raw, unfiltered energy in the way Cohn delivers his lyrics—like a battle cry for self-liberation.
And the instrumentation is stacked. With Brett Farkas on electric guitar, Dan Lutz on bass, Jake Reed on drums, and Phil Peterson on cello, there’s a mix of grit and melody that elevates the song’s intensity. Cohn himself leads the charge on vocals, acoustic guitar, synth, and percussion, ensuring that every sound is deeply connected to his vision.
We’ve all had people or habits that drain us, yet breaking free isn’t always easy. Cohn gets it. This song is about cutting ties with what no longer serves you, whether it’s a toxic relationship, self-doubt, or simply the past version of yourself that you’ve outgrown.
As Cohn puts it:
“Life is about finding as much joy as we can. Trying new things, remaining curious, spreading love, are the ultimate goals, but sadly, there are people that ultimately get in the way of our plans. Or they stunt our growth. This song is about getting all the menacing thoughts or people out of our lives so we can be our best selves.”
That emotional weight comes through in his vocal performance, which he describes as a breakthrough moment. He taps into a new range and raw emotion that he hadn’t explored before—marking a major evolution in his sound.

What makes this track even more impressive is how it was recorded. It took nearly a year to fully shape, with a mix of in-studio and remote sessions that spanned across LA, Seattle, and even Hawaii. Cohn tracked vocals, synth, and acoustic guitar at home, while electric guitars and drums were laid down in Pasadena. Cello was recorded in Seattle, Mixing and mastering happened via Zoom with Kevin Penner in Hawaii.
In an era where technology has transformed music production, “Wheels Stop” is proof of just how powerful remote collaboration can be. This is just one piece of the puzzle. The six-song EP is meant to be experienced as a complete journey, blending these introspective themes into a cohesive body of work.
If you’re into soul-searching rock with a cinematic edge, “Wheels Stop” is a must-listen. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it’s got the kind of energy that lingers long after the song ends.
