Nick Anastasakis, better known as The Afro Nick, is making his debut with his latest single, "Get There Before Noon (LA mix)." Originally recorded in various New York studios, this track has been revamped, stripped down, and finalized in Nick’s home studio in LA, bringing a whole new depth and rawness to its sound.
Nick’s story is just as wild and free as his music. Born and raised on the sun-soaked island of Crete, he grew up mesmerized by Romani musicians jamming on the cobblestone streets, soaking up the soul of the blues and the energy of rock ‘n’ roll. With his first band, Stray Blue, he did something unheard of—took indie rock on tour across Greece, a place where traditional folk music reigned supreme.
But Nick had bigger plans. He made the jump to the U.S., first to New York, then to LA, carving out his own lane as a fiercely independent artist, writing, recording, and producing his own music. And people took notice. His music landed on PBS’s "Roadtrip Nation" and got airplay on international radio stations, including Cosmos FM, a station dedicated to keeping Greek heritage alive in the States. Through it all, The Afro Nick has stayed true to his mission—using music as a tool for freedom, rebellion, and self-expression.
While The Afro Nick is a one-man force, he knows that music thrives when the right people come together. Longtime friend and bassist George Athanas (from their old Stray Blue days) and Grammy-winning synth wizard Leo Genovese help bring his vision to life. Nick and Leo first connected in the gritty, sweat-drenched clubs of NYC, where they played side by side, fueling the late-night music scene. These days, Leo plays some of the biggest venues around the world, but whenever he’s in LA, you can bet he’s jamming and creating new magic with Nick in his home studio.
Sometimes, a song comes from the most random moment, and "Get There Before Noon"is one of those. Nick woke up hungover in NYC after a long night, only to realize he had to be at a studio session before noon. That rush—the hazy, urgent realization that time waits for no one—sparked something. What started as a simple, hungover thought turned into a bigger message—stop waiting around, stop making excuses. Just get up and do it.

With lyrics like: “And on one day, you gonna miss that day,” and “I got to live this life, not yesterday.” This track is a wake-up call in the form of a rock anthem—a reminder that life doesn’t wait, so neither should you.
"You only have one life," Nick says. "You gotta do what you have to do, and do it as soon as possible."
Musically, "Get There Before Noon" blends gritty rock riffs, thick basslines, pulsing synths, and Nick’s signature raspy, soulful vocals—giving it a mix of raw energy and deep emotion. The final lyric, "And all you have to do is get there before noon," sums up The Afro Nick’s whole vibe—live with passion, chase what matters, and don’t waste time looking back.
With his signature blend of indie rock grit and bluesy soul, Nick isn’t just making music—he’s creating a mindset. His songs aren’t just meant to be heard; they’re meant to be felt.
"Get There Before Noon (LA mix)" isn’t just another song—it’s a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever battled procrastination, missed an opportunity, or just needed a kick in the ass to go after what they want.
And honestly? That’s all of us.
