Emerging from Denmark’s indie scene, Vølve—the artistic project of Helene Navne—returns with a spellbinding new single, “Les Trois Amies.” This ethereal track continues to showcase Vølve’s signature ability to weave folklore, raw emotion, and cinematic soundscapes into an otherworldly musical experience.

Helene Navne, under the alias Vølve, has redefined her artistic identity by crafting deeply atmospheric and cinematic music. Drawing inspiration from Norse mythology, personal transformation, and modern womanhood, Vølve’s songs reflect a profound connection to nature and storytelling. With a distinctive voice and influences ranging from Agnes Obel to Aurora and Kate Bush, Vølve has carved out a unique space within ethereal folk and neoclassical pop. Her sound is at once delicate and powerful, pulling listeners into a world of vulnerability, mysticism, and personal discovery.

Helene Navne’s journey with Vølve feels like the start of something truly special. After leading the indie band NOR and facing challenges that transformed her both personally and creatively—like overcoming breast cancer—she’s emerged with a new sound and perspective. Vølve is all about diving deep into identity, emotion, and the human connection, and her music reflects that beautifully.

“Les Trois Amies” is a delicate, heartfelt celebration of differences, vulnerability, and self-acceptance. Sung in French, with a piano melody that feels like it’s been pulled straight from a music box, the song paints a dreamy, bittersweet story.

It’s about three women; a mermaid torn between her love for the sea and the world above, a sorceress who cuddles a stuffed white rabbit, balancing magic and loneliness, and a fairy who dances alone, full of joy but searching for love.

It’s such a vivid, imaginative mix of mythology and raw emotion, it’s impossible not to get pulled into the world she creates. The layers of sound—soft strings, haunting harmonies, and this sweeping, cinematic vibe—make it feel like you’re wandering through an enchanted forest. It’s gorgeous, transportive, and a little otherworldly.

Fans of Agnes Obel’s introspective melodies, Aurora’s ethereal storytelling, and Kate Bush’s artful eccentricity will find a kindred spirit in Vølve. “Les Trois Amies” also echoes the delicate, otherworldly charm of Patrick Watson and the haunting simplicity of Shana Cleveland.

Following her debut single, “Enter the Unknown” (October 2024), “Les Trois Amies” represents a further step into the magical and deeply personal world that Vølve is crafting. With her ability to channel personal challenges into creative strength, Vølve is poised to be a powerful voice in 2025, delivering music that captivates both the heart and imagination.

“Les Trois Amies” isn’t just a song—it’s an invitation to step into a world where mythology meets the intricacies of human emotion. Vølve continues to prove that vulnerability is a strength, and her music stands as a testament to the transformative power of embracing one’s true self.
