“Tyler Down” by Del’Noire: Review

Del’Noire is back, and his latest release, "Tyler Down," is a deeply emotional and thought-provoking journey into the complexities of trauma, recovery, and self-expression. After making waves with his debut EP, The Haunting of Del’Noire, Matyascorvinus—the mastermind behind Del’Noire—has been hard at work, refining his craft and embracing a completely DIY ethos. His ambitious plan for 2025 is nothing short of impressive: a new single every month, for a total of 12 tracks that promise to showcase his growth as a musician, producer, and storyteller.
Matyascorvinus doesn’t hold back when reflecting on how far he’s come."After releasing Haunting-EP I felt I was stuck what comes to mixing and mastering processes. And doing completely DYI, I felt I must get these things working."
To level up, he reached out to his long-time friend and audio wizard, Teemu Aalto—a man with serious credentials, having worked with metal legends like Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, and Mariana’s Rest. That collaboration was a total game-changer. "So, we sat down and had a session which pretty much changed the Del’Noire-sound," Matyascorvinus explains. "We went through the mixing process, production, programming etc. And it was an eye-opening session. It did not only teach me a lot about mixing, but it also taught a lot about honing the sound of instruments i.e. making them sound natural and full."
It didn’t stop there. The session inspired Matyascorvinus to dive headfirst into mastering—a process that’s notoriously tricky. Armed with determination (and some free plugins), he taught himself the ropes. "Del’Noire is a DIY to the core. The ethos of this project is: if there is a will, there is a way. You can do it by yourself."

"Tyler Down" is the perfect example of this do-it-yourself spirit. Inspired by the Netflix series ‘13 Reasons Why’ and the character Tyler Down, the song dives into heavy themes like trauma, bullying, and recovery. "What Tyler experienced in the series was sort of a wake-up call to me," Matyascorvinus says."Even though the character is fictional, similar things happen (way too often) in the real world. It’s everywhere; on social media, online, at school, at the office, in the top politics…For me, it is deeply saddening."
Despite the tough subject matter, "Tyler Down" isn’t all gloom. The song carries a powerful message of hope and healing, much like Tyler’s journey in the series. In Matyascorvinus’s version, Tyler is reimagined as a girl, but the takeaway stays the same. "But it’s all the same, no matter if you’re a boy or a girl. A man or a woman. We all hurt. And heal."
"Tyler Down" is classic Del’Noire—moody, cinematic vibes with haunting melodies and brooding minor chords. But then comes the curveball: an infectious, danceable energy that flips the script. It’s raw, it’s emotional, but it grooves hard enough to stick with you long after the track ends.
This is just the beginning for Del’Noire. With passion that doesn’t quit, an unrelenting DIY ethos, and a vision that doesn’t bend to the industry’s rules, he is proving that all you need for greatness is heart, hustle, and the courage to create without compromise.
