Fresh talent, big ambition, and a serious knack for infectious beats—that’s the best way to describe James Taupo. Hailing from Birmingham, England, the rising producer is making his grand entrance into the music scene with his debut single, "Don't You Lead Me On," dropped on March 28, 2025. If this track is any indication, he’s here to stay.
James may be a newcomer, but his sound is anything but amateur. Pulling inspiration from the likes of Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry, and Calvin Harris, he delivers a high-energy, dancefloor-ready anthem that effortlessly blends melodic house vibes with polished production.
Like many great artists, James started out in his bedroom studio. Developing his sound with his own monitors and feedback from friends.
And that work has already paid off. Before the single even drops, it’s been played at Lab 11, one of the biggest rave venues in Birmingham. Now, it’s set to hit venues in Liverpool and Bournemouth, proving that James’ music belongs in the club circuit.

Beyond just being a debut single, this track is the beginning of something big. James isn’t just another producer hitting "upload" on a streaming platform—he’s got the skills, the drive, and the musical background to make waves.
He’s a classically trained musician—Grade 8 saxophonist, Grade 6 drummer, and a music teacher. He also studied music production & business studies at university—developing technical skill and industry knowledge.
James describes his journey with a simple but powerful mantra:
“Either go and do it, or be mad that someone else did.”
And with a debut like this, it’s clear he’s doing it—and doing it right. Keep your eyes (and ears) on James Taupo—this is just the beginning.
