Strap in because KaiserKillers are back and they’re not messing about. Their latest single “Heavenly in Black” is pure Britpop bliss with a punky snarl and just enough swagger.

From the get-go, “Heavenly in Black” is a powerhouse. This isn’t your standard nostalgic throwback — it’s a full-throttle PowerPopPunk joyride, steeped in melody and dripping in the kind of storytelling that makes you feel like you’ve just bumped into an old flame at a dive bar and remembered why they drove you wild in the first place. It's about Beverly—a girl Johnny once knew, who looked ‘heavenly in black.’ She complained her name was never in a song. Johnny said, challenge accepted, and here we are.

Think Buzzcocks meet Oasis with a dash of The Hollies and some Monkees harmonies thrown in. The guitars jangle, the energy pops, and somewhere in there, a triangle-ish chime rings out — hand-crafted by Johnny hitting a spanner suspended on wire with a toffee hammer. Punk MacGyver energy.

Band Members are: Johnny Zero – vocals, bass, and chaos conductor. Cristi Mac Seáin – Guitar, and Stix McIntosh – drums.

They got their start in Huddersfield in the 90s, rising from the ashes of The Isolationists and Martin's Dad. Eventually, they reformed under the banner of KaiserKillers — a name inspired by the legendary Kaiser Keller in Hamburg where the Beatles got their teeth. It’s a rock ’n’ roll heritage, but with a beer-soaked Northern edge.

They wear their influences proudly: these include The Beatles, Buzzcocks, Blondie, Smiths, Pixies, Dylan, Oasis, Happy Mondays.

They’ve also had airplay on Boogaloo Radio with Julie Hamill, The Jiggy Jaguar Show (Across the U.S.), Voodoo Radio, XRP, Amazing Radio, Radio Wigwam and Punk Rock Demonstration.

“Heavenly in Black” was recorded at Strawberry Field in Colchester (no, not that Strawberry Field… but still). The track was mixed and mastered by Francis Gorini at London Mastering Studio, and it sounds every bit as sharp as you'd hope — tight drums, crisp vocals, and enough guitar layering to keep headphone listeners coming back for seconds.

KaiserKillers aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel. They’re burning donuts with it. “Heavenly in Black” is a timeless love letter to Britpop, written in lipstick, screamed through a Marshall stack, and sprinkled with Northern charm and cheek.

So roll down the windows, crank the volume, and find yourself a Beverly who looks heavenly in black. This one’s for the hopeless romantics, the ex-punks, and everyone who knows a good chorus when they hear it.
