“It's OK” - Chandra

Bristol’s Chandra have always had a knack for turning vulnerability into something anthemic — and with “It’s OK”, they hit that sweet spot where catharsis meets pure pop-rock joy. It’s three minutes of melodic adrenaline that manages to sound both stadium-sized and deeply personal, like a pep talk shouted through a megaphone.

From the opening bars, “It’s OK” bursts with energy — bright guitars, crisp drums, and a rhythm section that feels like it’s been fine-tuned for motion. There’s an immediacy to the sound, the kind that makes you instinctively tap your steering wheel or belt out the chorus before you’ve even memorized the words. And then there’s that “do-do-do” hook — the kind of earworm that sneaks into your head and refuses to leave (in the best way possible).

At its heart, “It’s OK” is a song about permission — to stumble, to feel lost, to admit that things aren’t perfect. Chandra Nair’s lyrics cut through the noise of self-help platitudes with something much more real: “It’s OK to not be OK.” It’s simple, yes, but the delivery makes it hit differently — a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever felt crushed by expectation or their own timeline.

Co-written with Chris Wong and Mike Paul, the track captures that sense of collective release — the kind that happens when a song doesn’t just speak to you, but for you. Producer Elliot Vaughan gives the track a clean, driving pulse, layering tight guitars with shimmering textures that lift the chorus sky-high. His drumming anchors everything — punchy, kinetic, and bursting with momentum — while Chandra’s vocal rides the wave with effortless emotion and conviction.

There’s something beautifully unpretentious about how “It’s OK” lands. It doesn’t try to be clever or cryptic. Instead, it does what the best pop-rock songs do — connect instantly, make you feel seen, and remind you you’re not alone. The sound lands somewhere between early 2000s power-pop (think Jimmy Eat World or Fountains of Wayne) and the modern alt-rock polish of bands like The 1975 or Sam Fender.

For a group that’s been steadily carving out a lane in the UK indie scene, “It’s OK” feels like a defining statement — a culmination of everything Chandra does best: big hooks, bigger heart.

Chandra’s “It’s OK” is an explosive yet deeply human pop-rock anthem — a sonic burst of optimism wrapped around a message of self-acceptance. It’s proof that sometimes the simplest truths hit hardest, especially when they come with a killer chorus.
